Squad
Squad is the module where the coaching staff maintains the organization’s roster of athletes: creating and editing players, photos, teams, jersey numbers, sporting status, injury history, and invitations to the player portal. It is the entry point for the rest of the system — without a player loaded here, no other module can see them. Used mainly by the Head of Performance and Sporting Director; the rest of the staff reads and edits their area’s data from the individual player profile.
For sales
Section titled “For sales”- Problem it solves: unifies in a single place the squad master list that normally lives in scattered spreadsheets (the S&C’s Excel, the physician’s contacts, the kit manager’s WhatsApp photos).
- Typical use cases: loading the squad at the start of the season, registrations and departures mid-year, transfers between sub-teams (first team / reserves / youth), bulk invitations to the player portal.
- Plans that include it: all of them. The
essentialplan caps the squad at 40 athletes;proandenterpriseare unlimited. See Plans and features.
How staff use it
Section titled “How staff use it”Access and permissions
Section titled “Access and permissions”All staff roles can see Squad and open a player’s individual profile. What changes between roles is which sub-tabs of the profile they see and which actions are enabled:
- Head of Performance / Sporting Director: everything. Create, edit, photo, transfer between teams, bulk delete and restore, portal invitations, configuration of visible tabs from Settings.
- Physician / Return-to-play: can additionally change a player’s sporting status (available / injured / recovering / suspended / inactive).
- S&C / Sport Scientist / Physio / Nutritionist / Psychologist: squad read access, write scoped to their area inside the individual profile.
See per-role detail in Staff roles.
The player profile tabs (general, tactical, physical, medical, mental, messages) can be shown or hidden from Settings → Visible tabs.
Player profile hero card
Section titled “Player profile hero card”When opening a player profile, the hero shows the photo, name with jersey number, nationality and sub-team on the left. The status selector (available, injured, etc.) appears directly next to the Active injury chip — so staff can spot the clinical contradiction at a glance (e.g. marked “Available” but with an active serious injury).
Actions on the player (Edit, Transfer report, Move to another squad)
are grouped in the ··· menu (top-left corner of the hero).
Visible only for HoP and Sporting Director.
Step-by-step flows
Section titled “Step-by-step flows”- Create a player: Squad → “Add player” → fill in name, position, jersey, date of birth, sub-team. The jersey is validated against conflicts within the same sub-team (inactive players don’t block).
- Upload a photo: from the player profile, left panel → upload JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 10 MB. URLs from scrapers (Sofascore, Transfermarkt, etc.) are blocked to avoid legal issues.
- Change sporting status: status selector visible in the hero, co-located with the active injury chip. Also accessible from the squad grid. Only HoP, Sporting Director, Physician, and RTP can change it.
- Edit player data:
···menu in the hero → “Edit player”. HoP and Sporting Director only. - Bulk delete / restore: select several players from the grid → delete (player becomes inactive and any open injuries are closed automatically) or restore. Maximum 100 per operation. HoP and Sporting Director only.
- Move to another sub-team (individual):
···menu in the hero → “Move to another squad”. Logs a historical transfer record with date and optional notes. - Bulk transfer between teams: multi-transfer modal from the grid, moves a set of players to another sub-team.
- Generate transfer report:
···menu in the hero → “Transfer report”. Generates an exportable PDF. - Portal invitation (individual, legacy): profile → “Invite” → the system generates an activation link and emails it to the player.
- Bulk onboarding (recommended): mass onboarding of the squad to the portal is done from the Group onboarding link, not from Squad. Requires the player’s email to be pre-loaded by the coaching staff.
Related configuration
Section titled “Related configuration”- Sub-teams: Settings → Teams defines the sub-teams that appear when assigning a player. The Essential plan allows up to 2 sub-teams.
- Visible profile tabs: Settings → Visible tabs. A club that doesn’t use psychology can hide the mental tab for the entire staff.
- Colors and logo: the organization’s branding applies here as well. See Settings.
FAQ / edge cases
Section titled “FAQ / edge cases”- Duplicate jersey: two players can share a jersey if they are in different sub-teams. Within the same sub-team, an inactive player does not block creating another with the same number.
- Does delete erase historical data? No. Deletion is a reversible deactivation: the player becomes inactive and can be restored. The player’s active injuries are automatically closed with today’s date so they don’t end up orphaned in Medical.
How the player sees it
Section titled “How the player sees it”Player surface: N/A. Squad is a staff-only administrative module. The player does not see this screen. The closest thing in their portal is “My profile”, where they read their personal data but don’t manage the squad list or edit their own sporting status.
Data and metrics
Section titled “Data and metrics”Squad is a CRUD module — it does not compute its own metrics. The metrics shown in the profile (ACWR, %MD, Hooper, risk) are aggregates consumed from other modules. For formulas, see the Glossary.
Integrations
Section titled “Integrations”Squad is the source of truth for the athlete list, so practically every module consumes it:
- Calendar — call-ups and absences.
- Wellness — per-player records.
- Load — ACWR and %MD per player.
- Risk — daily snapshots.
- Physio and Medical — injuries, consultations, physio sessions, return-to-play phases.
- Nutrition and Psychology — per-player records and goals.
- Performance — match stats and tactical analysis.
- Messaging — staff ↔ player chat, push notifications.
- Users — group self-onboarding link that grants access to the player portal.
Limitations
Section titled “Limitations”- Moving a player to another organization: not supported. Transfer between sub-teams works only within the same org.
- Permanent deletion: does not exist. Deletion is always reversible (preserves load history, injuries, and reports).
- Legacy wellness links: per-player tokenized links remain available for backward compatibility. For new clubs, the recommended flow is PWA + push.
